    The Interclue Manifesto (0.00002 Pre-Alpha)

  • Our users are our first priority.
  • The privacy and security of our users must be respected.
  • We should seek as much feedback and interaction with our users as possible.
  • Increasing the value of the web platform is our second priority.
  • We are a responsible, sustainable endeavour and profitability is not the be all and end all.
  • But we are a commercial endeavour and our long term profitability cannot be ignored.
  • We are but one of many stakeholders in the internet environment, and the most important stakeholders are the users.

Our Development Policies

  • Our development policies are guided by our company principles.
  • We should be pro-active in protecting our user’s privacy and security.
  • The value of our user’s screen real-estate and mouse travel time should be respected. Every pixel counts.
  • We should aim to support as many browsers and platforms as possible.
  • We should test our code well, and work towards having a full set of QA tests, as automated as possible.
  • We should allow the user as much control as possible over their user experience.
  • We should design for a mainstream audience by default, but make available all sensible options for power users.
  • We should set policy regarding the standard interractions
  • We should not seek to provide options without clear user requirements for them.
  • We should not be afraid to remove options once it’s been established that there is clearly one “best” answer for ~90-95% of user contexts.
  • We should be international, and support as many languages as feasible.
  • We should attempt to increase exposure for new web standards and APIs
  • Above all, we must help our users get things done faster.
  • We should have Open APIs, and support for people using them.
